A Government Portfolio – Charles Randell CBE

Charles was a Partner at Slaughter and May until 2013 when he moved into the non-executive world of corporate regulation. He has recently been appointed as Chair of the Financial Conduct Authority. Before this, he was an Independent Director of the Prudential Regulation Committee.

He is also a Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit and Risk Committee, Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy; and a Visiting Fellow in financial services regulation at Queen Mary University of London.

Charles will speak of the selection process for his government and regulatory roles and the pros and cons of these roles, the way lawyers are perceived and the interface with his roles in education at Queen Mary.
