The Portfolio Lawyer with David Paterson
David retired from Herbert Smith in 2018, after a career at the firm as an M&A and board advisory partner. He has already made significant headway into building a portfolio in the regulatory, charitable and sporting worlds, and he will talk to members about his roles, how he won them and where he sees his portfolio going next.
David is a non-exec member of the Case Management Committee of the Financial Reporting Council and a non-exec director of both the Fairtrade Foundation and the R&A Group, which plays a leading role in the governance of world golf and owns various golf championships, including The Open. He also sits on the audit committee of these organisations. In addition, he chairs a Development Board at Christian Aid, overseeing programming and fundraising in the UK while also sitting on the Board of Christian Aid Kenya, its operating vehicle in East Africa.
Once an avid attendee at BCKR events, David provides a great example of what our members can achieve.
