Life after law – Guy Henderson and Ascot Racecourse

Life after law – Guy Henderson and Ascot Racecourse

Guy spent his 30 year legal career at Allen & Overy, heading up their UK and Asian commercial disputes divisions.  He now does something completely different – he is Chief Executive of Ascot Racecourse.

Before joining Ascot, Guy chaired Wincanton Racecourse, the Horse Trust (the leading UK funder of education and research into equine welfare), and the pension fund trustees of Cobham PLC.  Guy has owned racehorses for over 15 years with runners at 24 of Britain’s racecourses.  His home is a grass farm in North Dorset just south of Shaftesbury, which he farms organically.

This session will provide a fabulous example of how a lawyer might go about a complete career change, and alongside this, offer an insight into board discussions at this high profile sporting venue and the world of racing.
