Boardroom issues of the day – BLM and the diversity agenda – Miranda Wayland, BBC

In light of the Black Lives Matter campaign, BCKR wants to help members understand how to address this and broader diversity issues in the board room (and perhaps their firms).  We all know diversity is critical, but that client service and recruiting the top talent comes first – but how best to combine all three eludes many.  We are delighted that the BBC’s Miranda Wayland has agreed to take members through issues surrounding diversity that often go unnoticed in highly successful profitable organisations, and how a board could bring about change in this area.

The BBC is committed to leading the way on diversity, with initiatives under way to promote disabled talent, BAME creativity and socio-economic diversity.  Some areas of diversity are clearly much easier to spot than others but the BBC has plans afoot to address all three. Miranda is the BBC’s Head of Creative Diversity, championing all these areas of diversity in the creative community and with key industry stakeholders to deliver the BBC’s on-screen diversity ambitions.  She works closely with the BBC’s Head of Workforce Diversity & Inclusion.  Members will benefit hugely from hearing her ideas on how an organisation can change.
