OperaUpClose seeks new Trustee with charity or employment law expertise
OperaUpClose is an ambitious, innovative opera company with the mission of creating opera which is thrilling, relevant and accessible for current opera lovers and those of the future. We are a small team with big ambitions, and a tradition of touring nationally with inventive versions of classic operas, as well as our own new commissions. We have just celebrated our 10th birthday.
OperaUpClose is a charity, and a company limited by guarantee. The Board plays an important and active part in our work, supporting our very small staff team, and taking an active role in advocating for the company, supporting our fundraising and ensuring that we meet the highest standards of governance. Our Board is made up of active supporters with a range of skills, with trustees who are specialists in finance, PR, fundraising, IT and diversity. We are looking for up to three new board members, as well as a new Chair (for more information about the Chair role, please see the role profile).
The Board meets bi-monthly, and we aim to have annual strategy session.
We are particularly interested to hear from people with experience in:
- Education and/or arts participation
- Charity and/or employment law
- Producing and/or programming in a non-London cultural venue
