Women’s charity on the Isle of Wight seeks new Trustee with legal expertise
Wight Dash provides a range of services for women and their dependent children, who have been subjected to violence, abuse and trauma. We are a “by and for” women’s organisation, specialising in domestic abuse and other forms of multiple disadvantage. We define multiple disadvantage as any intersecting issues such as domestic / sexual violence, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACESs), social isolation, risk of homelessness, mental distress, involvement with the criminal justice system, poverty, disability etc.
Wight DASH are looking for individuals with insight into the lives of the women who use our or similar services to strengthen governance and ensure effective succession planning.
We welcome applicants who are under represented on the board and value perspectives from the widest possible range of backgrounds to enrich, diversify and strengthen our board.
We currently have four Trustees with backgrounds in Human Resources, Education, Finance and Property Management. We are particularly interested in applicants who may have expertise in legal, teaching or a medical background and or lived experience.
An understanding or experience of working on a board is not essential as training will be provided. The role of a Trustee is voluntary with paid expenses for attending meetings.
