Citizens Advice Runnymede and Spelthorne (CARS) provides valuable advice to over 4,000 people a year, helping them with over 12,000 different issues, including housing, debt, benefits, and employment.

CARS is a local charity at the heart of our community, funded solely by grants and donations, and we are a member of national Citizens Advice.

We have exciting plans for our future, and we are seeking new volunteer Trustees to lead and guide our progress, working with the Chief Officer to deliver our strategic plan.

We currently have 6 members of the Trustee Board however we are looking for new Trustees with experience in leading long-term strategic development.  We are currently interested in recruiting volunteers with experience in Commercial/Legal, Marketing and Communications and Governance.

We are looking for volunteers who can be a passionate and persuasive advocate for our aims and principles, and inspire our team of over 40 volunteers, fellow trustees, and stakeholders alike.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • A successful track record of achievement in their career
  • Judgement and vision to work effectively at a strategic level
  • Experience in governance, delivering engaging presentations, and managing multiple stakeholders
  • Significant experience of chairing meetings and events
  • Availability and the willingness to give approximately two days per month

The average time commitment is 2 days per month with attendance expected at 10 board meetings per year; these are currently held by video conference, but may revert to face-to-face once it is safe to do so. Trustees occasionally lead on one or more aspects of governance, either individually or as part of a small sub-group.
