The Trust runs a historic fleet of traditional Norfolk Broads hire yachts with the aim of encouraging sailing for all but particularly for young people.

The trustees meet every two months to oversee the general management and plan for the future.  Particular skills may be called on to work on specific aspects/problems and to assist the Yard manager.  Attendance at events and extra volunteering help is always appreciated

It is helpful for new candidates to have some basic knowledge of the Norfolk Broads and some sailing experience is a bonus but not essential.  We are looking specifically for trustees with a legal, business development or public relations background and some business experience is useful.

The Trust is managed by a group of seven working trustees although there have been more in the past  Like every organisation, age is creeping up and several will retire within a few years.  New trustees are needed to maintain the business and to continue to provide sailing opportunities for all, particularly young people.

The fleet of 20 classic wooden sailing boats for hire on the Norfolk Broads, which are maintained in their original design and format, is the only complete fleet of cabin yachts still operating from its traditional boat sheds.  The Trust was formed in 1996 to preserve this heritage and trusteeship brings a great feeling of achievement in this.  The changing world brings interesting challenges which must be overcome for this small business in the holiday market and the Trust is supported by a small team of dedicated and skilled craftsmen.
