Vincent Dance Theatre (VDT), a professional arts organisation based in Brighton is seeking a new Chair for its Board.

We know that strong governance is key to success and with the term of the current Chair  coming to an end in 2022 we think it’s a great time for someone to take on the leadership of VDT’s Board.

We need a Chair who can lead the management of meetings, set the tone of Board communication and provide support to the senior management team. Externally, you will be VDT’s champion and advocate, strengthening our reputation and articulating the value and relevance of VDT.

The Company is a National Portfolio Organisation, funded by Arts Council England and an Associate Artist at Brighton Dome.  Its Artistic Director Charlotte Vincent is considered ‘one of the UK’s leading female choreographer/directors’ and ‘one of the most important feminist artists working in Britain today’ (The Observer).

Since 1984 Vincent Dance Theatre (VDT) has been ‘moving people and making them think,’ making new contemporary dance theatre on stage on film and online that challenges conventional values in dance and gender politics.

Our work is made through an intensive social engagement process, often with marginalised women and young people, giving voice to their concerns and contemporary issues and with an impact beyond most dance companies.

Productions and films are seen by audiences locally and nationally in a range of venues and spaces from Brighton Dome to Whitehawk FC; Bath Spa University to Towner gallery Eastbourne; Norwood School to Creative Cafes – as well as online. Our extensive participation programmes reaches artists, education and community groups.

If you are interested in finding out more, please see our Chair Recruitment Pack on our website for details.
