The Audley Foundation (supporting older people) seeks new Trustee with legal expertise

Closing Date
12 December 2022
Location
Egham, Surrey
Time Commitment
5 hours a month

Trustees needed for a national charity that helps improve the lives of older people, particularly the lonely and less fortunate members of society.

What will you be doing?

The Audley Foundation has a fantastic opportunity to build a charity that combines the resources of Audley Group Ltd with over 2000 owners and 500 employees across its 17 villages, as well as many other customer and corporate partners.  To do that, we recognize that we need a larger board of trustees with a broader range of skills.

We set up the charity at the start of the pandemic, which wasn’t part of our plan, but we went ahead anyway. It has been an interesting, if slightly bumpy journey on occasion, but we have learnt a lot.

We currently have three trustees whose expertise covers management, marketing and sheer common sense.  Our part-time administrator is an experienced fundraiser, and we also have advisers who support the Board and attend meetings whenever possible. Trustee experience isn’t essential, but skills are, specifically legal, governance, I.T., social media and website development. Running concurrently with this recruitment process we are also recruiting for a Finance Trustee.

Our trustees currently meet fortnightly on Monday afternoons, with meetings (always via Teams) usually lasting 1-1¼ hours.  However, we’re working towards holding monthly meetings once we have more trustees on board.  We held our first Strategy Planning meeting in May and plan to hold these annually.  In March, Russell-Cooke ran our first Governance training session in Egham, which will also be an annual event.

What are we looking for?

Trustee experience isn’t essential, but skills are, specifically legal, governance, I.T., social media, website development.

Additionally, we are looking for people with:

  • Good inter-personal skills
  • Commitment to the goals and aims of the organisation
  • Proven experience working as a member of successful teams
  • Dedication to the role and a willingness to devote the required time
  • Being able to think creatively
  • Integrity and objectivity
